About the Garden

Welcome to the Bolton Community Garden blog. We are located in Bolton, Massachusetts, a beautiful town of forests, meadows, and apple orchards located in the Vaughn hills west of Boston and northeast of Worcester.

The Bolton Community Garden was started in 2009 by a group from Bolton Local. The garden consists of twenty 15 by 22 foot plots located in the “Lower Field” located off Route 117, just east of the center of town and south of Bolton Senior Manor. The garden is a testbed for organic and sustainable gardening

The Mission of the Bolton Community Garden is:
  • To provide a place for people to grow fresh produce for their own use;
  • To promote a community gathering place where people can relax and enjoy nature;
  • To provide education on sustainable, organic farming;
  • To increase general food security;
  • To widen ecological awareness and promote protection of our natural resources.
This blog will provide a way for garden and community members to communicate and share information. We hope you will share your experiences with community gardening, favorite vegetables and herbs, what worked and what did not work, tips and advice, and favorite recipes for using the bounty of the garden.
